Olmsted Falls Lacrosse Association 2012
Olmsted Falls LAX
Founded in 2010, the Olmsted Falls Lacrosse Association (OFLA) is committed to the growth of youth lacrosse in the Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township and surrounding Northeastern Ohio area. The OFLA is a member of the Ohio North Coast Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse and consists of a Board of Directors who are charted to embrace the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance in providing youth athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience. The Board consists of:
President: Kevin McKeigue Vice-President: Geoff Allman
Operation Director: Dan Lethbridge Program Director: Chris Zurawski
Marketing Director: Jenny McKeigue Personnel Director: Sam Lofton
In our first year, 22 boys played lacrosse in the North Coast Youth (5th/6th Grade) division and competed in twenty-four games against many of the local lacrosse teams in the area; including Strongsville, Westlake, Bay Village, Rocky River, Chagrin Falls, Shaker Heights, Mentor, and Wooster.
In 2011, 95 boys and girls participated in Bantam (3rd/4th Grade), Youth (5th/6th Grade) and Middle School (7th/8th Grade) divisions and played a total of sixty-eight games that included both single games as well as all-day tournaments that involved many of the local teams along with teams from Columbus, Toledo, and Pittsburgh.
We are expecting more growth in 2012 and are committed to fielding a Junior Varsity boy’s team in 2013 and a Varsity boy’s team in 2014. We are also excited about growing the girls program to include high school level teams as well.
A big part of our growth expectations is the introduction of a 1st and 2nd Grade Boys and Girls Development Program that will focus on basic stick skills that will include passing, throwing and ground balls, along with basic dodge moves and shooting drills. The Program will run one day a week for ten weeks and last 90 minutes per session to prepare these future Bulldog LAXers for Bantam play when they reach 3rd Grade.
